Smarten up, yogis! Hit your mat and improve brain function
Anyone who has experienced that surreal buzz when rolling up their mat after completing an epic yoga class will find this recent study pretty easy to believe: a mere 20 minutes of yoga, with breathing exercises and meditation, can improve brain performance. (This was compared to a test group of aerobic exercise participants who earned less than stellar scores on cognitive tests post-workout.)
We are definitely not surprised, but are thinking that the side-noted ‘meditation’ element more than likely had something to do with it… There needs to be a study on that: yoga with and without meditation to see which approach makes the grade. We know where our vote would be.
